Cassandra Do, a trans woman who worked in the sex trade was murdered in her home in Toronto.

This kind of crime happens to trans people all over North America, but it's quite rare in Toronto. The last trans-related murder in T.O. happened around 1994/95 -- three prostitutes (two of them trans) were murdered by the same man.

It's a fucking epidemic here. *sigh* There have been at least three recent transwomen murdered in Michigan over the last year.

Wow. I really hope that the leads they spoke of pan out. I've always taken pride in how accepting a place Toronto is. This is really sad. :(

extremely sad. I'm sorry to hear about it. Are there things being done to make people more aware, or more education to stop these hate crimes?
