There are tents everywhere. There are tent cities everywhere. The whole Champs de Mars is one enormous tent city, with occasional historical statue sticking its head out of the multicoloured peaks and domes. Pétion looks down from his granite perch; stone-faced Bolivar scans the displaced people.
Haiti Day 1: Surveying the damage
Jun. 10th, 2010 11:07 amYesterday, I arrived in the morning and found out what's been happening here since the earthquake. Initially, as I was flying in, things seemed relatively normal. As the plane came in over Site Soley, the neighbourhood seemed pretty-much intact, but I'd already heard that Site Soley didn't get much damage from the quake.
