bcholmesJason and I were walking toward the Chinese restaurant today, and I pointed out a sign on the side of a Church: "You are the salt of the Earth."
"What does that mean?" Jason asked. "That God intends to eat the Earth, but wants to flavour it a bit?"
"Yum," I said in my best God-like voice, "Earth. Humph. Needs people."
"I guess that's the meaning of life," Jason said. "We're a condiment."

Actually, way back when, I kinda wondered if people were the white-cells or the anti-bodies of the universe. Now, I sometimes wonder if we're the parasite/infection. I've seen both sides done as stories...
