Richard III was a bit of a whiner, don't you think? Because he can't get enough dates, he decides to destroy his family. Like that makes sense?

I went to Stratford this weekend. I saw Richard III and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Neither production really knocked my socks off, although Pimpernel was a good romp. I think I prefer Anthony Andrews' foppish Blakeney (in the 1982 made-for-TV movie) to the buffoon-ish portrayal in this production.

My horoscope from last week said:

Before the wound can heal, you've got to pull out the arrow, bullet or sliver of glass. Instead, you've let the weapon that injured you stay lodged in the gash it created, because you fear that removing it will cause even more pain than you've already suffered. Unfortunately, a certain amount of bleeding and reopening is necessary so that you can finally move on. The consolation: although scar tissue can feel tight, constrictive and inflexible compared to how you were before the injury, you'll still be far more free than you were with the arrow poking out of your side.

[livejournal.com profile] the_siobhan was telling me that for a while now, my horoscope has been talking about big changes in my life. That sounds about right.

There's a scene in the movie, Searching for Bobbie Fischer where Ben Kingsley is trying to get Max Pomeranc to be able to see several moves ahead in a chess game. "Here," Kingsley says, "I'll make it easier for you," and he sweeps his arm across the board and knocks all the pieces away.

That seemed like a metaphor for something when I was writing it.
