Lwa of the Marketplace

The red building in this picture is the iron market in Port-au-Prince. I took this picture on the first day I arrived, a Sunday morning. Because it's a Sunday, the market is suprisingly empty. Most days, the road is packed with people and tables and stalls. There's often a big production when a larger-than-average car or truck tries to get through one of the roads.

These two pictures were taken at the market in Jacmel several days later.

I find the markets in Haiti really fascinating.

Those are great pictures, and they show exactly what I love about photography. I remember working in a photo lab when I was 20, looking at all these pictures, and thinking that I'd never manage to visit them all in my lifetime. However, being able to see the pics was not a bad substitute.
