So said Shirley MacLaine about New York. But what about getting over a cold?

I'm gonna be in New York this weekend. I was supposed to go to porcinea's baby shower, but the organizers have said that those blessed with cold symptoms should probably visit another time. I've made some arrangements to visit a coupl'a people while I'm there, but I think I might hafta give the shower a miss.

Why is it the perfect town for all that? Because misery loves company, and there you will find 10,000,000 compatriots.

I was in New York City for a total of 36 hours. In that span, I experienced:

2 minor taxi accidents, in the same taxi on the same trip.

1 crazy man screaming to himself on his stoop. (Memorable quote: "I'm a faggot! A goddamned faggot! I cannot BE a heterosexual!")

1 mugging witnessed.

4 acts of incomparable rudeness by "service" people, 2 toward myself, 2 toward others.

1 plate of the best damn salmon I've ever dreamed of. Alright, so it's not all bad.

Sorry you're going to miss your friends. I'm sure you'll see them soon, though. :-)
