Wow! wild_irises and I were walking past a theater the other day and she saw the poster and remarked that she didn't think it was possible to make a good movie of it, and certainly not with that cast (Deb, correct me if I've misparaphrased you). Glad to see they managed it!
A big part of what I loved about it is its stylization. It's using heavily stylized visuals in a way that I haven't seen since, say, Peter Greenaway's films. That and its sparse use of dialog -- we're constantly entering into scenes in the middle of a conversation. Or leaving them before characters respond.
Some critics are claiming that the film favours style over substance, and I can see why they say that. But I think they're wrong.
