I finally finished watching season 2 last week. On my earlier attempt, I kept thinking "Ack, why does Walter always do the worst possible thing in every situation?" It made it hard to watch -- it's like a horror movie where people continually send themselves into danger for no good reason, except Walter's bad choices sending him into figuratively monstrous situations, rather than literal. But people kept recommending it, so I tried again. I still feel kinda the same way, though there are signs that maybe he'll do something wise for once.

I think a key element of Walt's character is his pride and his suppressed anger. He does make choices that are hard to watch.
