I was toying around with some inking tonight. I thought I'd take a stab at some portraits -- I grabbed some images of a particular set of people, and thought I'd try my hand at rendering them. It was an interesting experiment -- not entirely successful. But there are things I like about them: the second figure's coat, for example.
Like I say, these are meant to be real people, but I don't think I've quite captured them. Playing with light and shadow was fun, though.

Date: 2011-12-29 01:23 pm (UTC)It's not light and shadow that are difficult, necessarily, it's showing them unobtrusively. It's much more difficult in b&w drawings, like you've done here. (There's a reason I prefer to work in pencil! Soft graphite streaks make life so much easier.)
