I think it probably changed with the 1982 Constitution, because I think that was when Canada was no longer officially the "Dominion of Canada". I could be wrong. After all I'm an USer.

I think that it was shortly after they realized that the name, "Dominion Day," just serves to get, "Dominion," by Sisters of Mercy stuck in everyone's head for th rest of the day.
