Scenario: You're sitting in the airport in Phoenix, waiting for your flight back to Toronto. The airline employee announces "We're in an over-sold situation on this flight and we're looking for volunteers to take a later flight. In exchange for helping us out, we'll give you a $300 certificate for a later flight on America West, and we'll re-book you on a flight to Las Vegas to connect with a red-eye flight to Toronto this evening." You'd get to spend a few hours in Las Vegas, and get back to Toronto the next morning.

Do you think:

  1. "Oh, no. I just had surgery the other day, and need to get home to rest"; or
  2. "Hey, I've never been to Las Vegas!"

What she said. :)

My former boss had no living family, so he used to go to Vegas for Christmas. He'd come back with strange souveniers from the Liberace Museum and such for his poor flunkies.

That's what I'm wondering too. :) And any plans yet on how to spend the $300 certificate?

The certificate is for America West. America West only appears to fly to two places from Toronto: Vegas and Phoenix. [livejournal.com profile] the_siobhan and I made a pact that we'd go back to Vegas some weekend. I really enjoyed playing poker.

I think I would've chosen the first option, as I'm not an experienced traveller.
I think I would've wanted to "just get it over with".
I wish you safe flying.

Hmm... Let's see. In this question, am I *me*, or am I BC? Because if I'm me, then I'm definitely going to Vegas.

I can say so without a doubt, because I have already answered somewhat similar questions, in the past. Such as, "Hmm. Write two finals and get easy A's in Roman and Greek mythology, or fail both but get a free road-trip to Miami?" Or, "Yes, I know I just got out of the hospital yesterday, and I know I still have stitches, but gawddamn it's the East Coast and I'm going, too. Surely there'll be someone who knows how to remove stitches in Maine?" Hope you're having fun and feeling fine, BC. :)

Probably the first. I don't really have any desire to go to Las Vegas; I don't like gambling and don't know anyone there. If I did go, it would have to be with fellow Tim Powers fans. *)

Hey, speaking of relocation, did you get my email about us all being in LA from the 17th to the 20th?

Heh. It'd be worth going to flying through Vegas just to see the Strip after dark from the plane.

I think I would have chosen rest.

Question: How do you get water through a desert?

Answer: Vegas SUCKS!
