I must confess that, until recently, it had never occurred to me that there are people who don't accept it as a truism that the media is a mouthpiece for relatively conservative big businesses. This whole "liberal bias in the media" thang just triggers my sky-colour-checking reaction.

Is it more or less obvious in Canada than in the States? I think it's getting more flagrant all the time, with the likes of Ann Coulter and Michael Savage being mistaken for intelligent, sane people.

Is it more or less obvious? Hmmmm... good question.

I think, for example, the quality of news reporting that I see on CBC versus the private sector media outlets is dramatic. (I think very highly of the CBC).

Anyone that thinks there's a "liberal bias" coming from organizations owned by corporations the size of AOL/Time-Warner and General Electric definately needs to start defining terms. Obviously, there is a usage conflict someplace.
