I've debated whether or not to post this particular picture. At some level, it seems like gawking at another person's grief. But here it is. At one point, as we were discussing the goal of Aristide's return, and the coup, this one woman began to cry:
She asked to talk to Kevin for a little while for comfort.
Sometimes, I get pretty consumed with how wrong the 2004 coup was. I am disgusted by what the coup says about how Canada and the U.S. and France view national sovereignty and democracy. About how the will of the majority is irrelevant if the majority is poor and black and powerless.
And every once in a while, I'm reminded that the 2004 coup also broke people's hearts.
