Situation: Terminal
Dec. 26th, 2009 08:57 pmI'm not where I'm supposed to be. I'm in Miami. I hate Miami.
Yesterday's incident with the airplane bomber means that all flights into the U.S. are now subject to extra security measures. These include:
- Full pat-down search at the gate
- Full bag search at the gate
- Restricted use of devices on the plane
- We were not allowed to leave our seat, use electronic devices, or hold anything in our laps during the last hour of our flight.
Some people have reported that carry-on luggage is now disallowed.
My flight from Toronto to Miami was at least an hour and a half late leaving the gate. I accepted a volunteer request to take a later flight, which is why I'm in fucking Miami over night.
Other joys:
- One-hour line-up to get a hotel voucher
- One missing bag (which they can't tell me anything about because they changed tag numbers when they pulled my bags from the original flight). One hour line-up to talk to baggage claims. All they said was "check in when you get to PAP"
- Lots of angry customer who have missed connecting flights
I'm leaving this godforsaken city at stupid early in the morning, but I'll probably arrive in Pòtoprens with a missing suitcase. The suitcase that has all of my (warm weather) clothes.
Gar.
