Jinx?

I think I may still believe in jinxing. Y'know: something good happens, but you don't want to talk about it until it's a completely done deal. Is that superstitious?

I mean, the story's been accepted. It's not published yet, true, but I've got all this happy energy and I can't help wanting to bounce.

You can bounce quietly, jiggle your knees up and down under your desk, whistle happily and tilt your jaunty-hat-wearin' head to and fro', but that's it. Otherwise, poof, the publisher in question goes out of business before your story comes out. (I speak from experience.) *grave nod*

I used to have a short story that, whenever I submitted it to a magazine, the magazine folded.

You can't fool me like that. What, you think I'd tell you what happened to the story so you could steal the plans and become a supervillain? I think not.
