Olivia won. Peggy lost (but Gerard is not a bad person to lose to).

Linda won!?! A dab of orange in a sea of blue? Rock on.

But 143 ridings still want the little baby Jesus to weep.

Go! Go! Status quo! It's the only quo we know!

Sad about Peggy, but it'd be nifty-keen if Gerard won the upcoming Liberal leadership struggle....

I have a feeling it will be Iggy or Rae, or maybe Justin Trudeau.

143 is small enough he can't poach enough MPs to put together a majority, but large enough that he could pull a Joe Clark. Similar to Bush's pronouncement in 2004 that he had a mandate, that he earned his political capital and that he intended to use it. Taking note of a mandate that doesn't really exist is a very dangerous thing.

I know, I want to weep. I actually voted for the orange this time around; I haven't in the past because our riding's candidate was just such a....blithering idiot, and I couldn't bring myself to vote for him. (Seriously, my husband ran into him once on the street....holding his pant legs and *skipping* through puddles. That tore it.)

On the plus side, I did talk my neighbour into voting for the first time in the five years she has been eligible to do so :)

[livejournal.com profile] rosefox told me you'd namechecked Linda, so I HAD to come check it out. *g*

I am strutting around like a peacock today. We started working on her campaign in May of 2005!!!

I heard briefly on the radio here that the government was returned - is that true?

Sadly, yes. The good news is that the Conservatives were hoping for a majority government, but didn't get it. But they did retain their minority government, with a few extra seats on top.

Then at least they'll have to log-roll for what they want.
