I don't think words can express just how much I despise sites like the Free Rice site.

Because they encourage people to feel like they've done some good when they've really basically done nothing? Or for some other reason?

That's certainly a part of it.

The part where corporations trade trivial amounts of aid in exchange for the opportunity to advertise to you (and prey on your guilt) is another part of it.

That a lot of those corporations are, in a big way, responsible for those countries needing aid makes it especially sick.

You know there are ways to ensure you don't see the advertising. Block the ads, use the aid.
