Because educated Haitians use French. Haitian Creole is more of a spoken language.

That's the situation for us Acadians, anyway. Our spoken language, which has very different phonology, grammar and vocabulary from standard French, has no real status. We are educated in standard French and have to use "French". We're lumped into French, even though we have trouble learning standard French.
