Nov. 8th, 2007 04:50 pmThis is an interesting read. It's an analysis of a letter sent from Prime Minister Yvon Neptune to US Ambassador James Foley regarding President Aristide's departure from Haiti.
In it, Neptune also states that:
On March 2, with the probable approval of Secretary of State Colin Powell and Assistant Secretary of State Roger Noriega, you ‘let me know’ that I should leave Haiti (go into exile) as soon as a new, i.e. putchist prime minister was appointed, or I would risk being jailed and/or assassinated [...]
In fact, Neptune was imprisoned from June 27th, 2004 to July 28th, 2006. I regret not knowing enough about the case to state as confidently as I suspect is warranted that the charges against Neptune are completely trumped up.
Last August, our delegation was on its way to meet with Yvon Neptune when we received word of Lovinsky's disappearance.
