I only just realized, this week, that Haagen Dazs is made by Nestlé. I have the sad.

Edited to add: That's true in Canada and the US, but not in the UK. Dunno about other places.

Yeah, my first thought was that it's definitely time to start making ice cream again.

There's even a no-power version, from a company called Industrial Revolution. http://icecreamrevolution.com/ We don't have one yet, but I've bought one as a wedding gift.

Hm... I'm kidding myself about the no-power, I realize, as it needs ice.

!!!!!

*cries*

My big Nestlé battle here is that they own Poland Spring and Deer Park, the two major local-ish bottled water suppliers. I try to avoid bottled water, but sometimes I'm desperate. Do I buy local and support Nestlé... or do I get a half-liter of water that was shipped here from overseas and thereby encourage companies that burn countless gallons of petroleum and release tons of pollutants to send water to a city renowned for its tap water? Sometimes all the choices suck.

Why not fill up a reusable Nalgene bottle with tap water? (Or fill your glass from the tap?)

Sometimes I end up caught short too. I don't think it's a coincidence that water fountains have been disappearing since bottled water became more popular (payphones, too, now that everybody is assumed to have a cellphone, but that's another rant.)

If you're on the Toronto subway system, there is nowhere to fill your water bottle, unless it's from the sink in the (filthy) bathroom at Yonge and Bloor. And on my bike route to school, I never did find a water fountain that worked.

I usually do, but occasionally I'm caught without my reusable bottle and need something that won't spill, or I'm in a place where getting tap water isn't feasible.

Actually, it's probably more likely that Nestle has the US and Canada distribution for Haagen Dazs. Kraft has that arrangement for some brands (like Toblerone).

Although, with it being frozen, it might need to be made here.

Actually Häagen-Dazs is licensed to Nestlé in the United States by General Mills. All Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream products are produced and distributed by Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream out of Oakland California. Dreyer’s and all its trademarks are owned by Société des Produits Nestlé S.A., Vevey, Switzerland
