Surely that's a deliberate slight? If he has expressed a preference to be simply "Mr" that's one thing, but he is referred to as Dr. Suzuki on the David Suzuki Foundation website.
My students and I watched the David Suzuki episode of the "Greatest Canadian" on Friday. They didn't seem too excited about him at the beginning of class when I tried to find out what they already knew, but they were quite engaged with the show. They did giggle a bit at the shots of him in flamboyant clothes in the 70's, but overall they seemed to have gained a new appreciation for him by the end of it.
One girl who generally doesn't participate much handed in two impassioned pages, winding up by saying he should be made Mayor of Canada!
I'm apalled...
