When I first killed mine (in order to afford higher-priced Internet service, heheh), I found it odd to discover just how much free time I had when I didn't have the automatic switch-on-the-tube habit to fall back on. My reading took an immediate jump, and I began getting serious about my craft work. (I also spent a *lot* more time on Usenet, but hey, at least it's social!)
Did you manage to do it with just one phone call? When we cancelled our service the once, we got three "are you really really sure?" sad voiced phone calls. They stopped billing us as agreed, but we had free service for a while as they milled about trying to find the off switch. :)
