Short version: surgery appears to have gone well. Siobhan is pretty out of it, spending most of her time asleep. She has a morphine drip that makes her relatively happy.
I went to see her in the hospital around 4; she was asleep pretty much the whole time. Her mother came to see her around 4:30 while I had stepped away for a bit. (Somewhat bitchy aside: it's clear that Siobhan's mother had no idea who I was when I said "hi" to her. <sigh> Siobhan and I have only been living together for five and a half years).
I went away and came back around 5:45 -- Siobhan woke up for a minute or two around 6:00. She said that she'd heard in the recovery room that surgery went well; she's going to be speaking to the surgeon more tomorrow.

I have expressed to Siobhan my concern that our relationship is now unbalanced.
