I had a 20-minute conversation about the election yesterday with some of the homeless guys who hang out by the liquor store in my neighbourhood. (I was waiting for the streetcar.) They told me they all voted en masse for DiNovo - they know her because she actually talks to them, and she's been running a free meal program at her church for years.

They had a lot of really critical things to say about Watson's treatment of homeless people and psychiactric survivors. It was the most engaged conversation about the election I've had yet.

Are you familiar with the smear tactics Watson was using against DiNovo?

Not surprising, but still pretty shoddy nonetheless.

They told me. :-)

I hadn't been paying too much attention to be honest, since it's one I couldn't vote in it anyway. (In spite of Watson's office calling me three flippin' times.)

You guys aren't in Parkdale High Park? Or are you too far north?

Watson came by my house to campaign. I smiled politely, took her leaflet and then put an NDP sign on my front lawn.

Cheri Di Novo's people called and dropped by several times, and they were all so damn nice that I didn't mind the interruptions one bit.

We're in the Davenport riding. The railway tracks are the dividing line.

A fifth candidate, John Turmel, who holds the distinction of running for office more than any other person in Canada, was forced to leave the debate early. "I barfed three times after eating a hot dog," he explained to the audience.
