Buh-bye Joe. One-time vice presidential candidate to independent. That takes some effort, no?

Meanwhile, north of the border, Prime Minister Harper (*ptui*) decides certain contract controls probably don't matter.

Joe probably should have never been the VP candidate, though. He was so vocally against Clinton during the Lewinski Ordeal, I wouldn't have touched him. But because Gore was so anxious to distance himself from Clinton, it seemed that the most vocally anti-Clinton Democrat was the way to go. And while people point out the stance on Iraq as the "one issue" that Lieberman was voted out on, he was siding with the GOP for a long time. The denounciation of Clinton. His support of the V-Chip (and Clipper Chip, too). His advocacy of rating everything "for the children". Blaming games and TV for kids going into schools and blowing away classmates, rather than easily accessibility of firearms and the tolerance for bullying in the schools.

Joe had abandoned the Democratic Party long before they abandoned him. And the Republican he defeated in 1988 was probably more liberal than he is.
