Gee, has this woman never read accounts of WWI soldiers (you know, the guys that y'all up on that side of the St. Lawrence wear them plastic poppies for) suffering from "shell shock"? "Shell shock" was the name for PTSD before the psychiatry/psychology folks caught up with what was going on. Geeze, I wish people would get a clue.
I was in Baghdad for just six weeks, lived in one of the safest parts of the city and was only directly shot at once. When I came back, it took me three months to stop twitching every time I heard a loud noise.
