Date: 2006-04-08 01:00 pm (UTC)Lies, damn lies and statistics. When you're churning out more greenhouse gasses than anyone else it's easier to make even a small dent in them. Nice to see it isn't only the US and UK that has a monopoly on obscuring the truth.

Date: 2006-04-09 06:57 am (UTC)The funny thing is that the US actually has made a lot of progress and it would hardly cost them much at all to sign the Kyoto treaty; they just aren't signing it for ideological reasons. Back in 1999-2000, business thought it would cost too much, and that's when Dubya's platform was set in stone. Meanwhile, business has discovered that reducing energy cost makes more profit. Reality moves a lot faster than rhetoric these days.
