In-Flight Movie
Feb. 26th, 2006 05:51 amUnfortunately, I read the books I took with me before my return flight, so I was desperately looking for ways to pass the time on the flight back. So I watched the in-flight movie. Mostly I don't do that, because I can't stand it when movies are edited, trimmed, or modified to fit the screen. But I enjoyed the two movies I saw, especially In Her Shoes which, I must confess, I hadn't even seen ads for.
Good points:
- Toni Collette in a starring role (something that I don't think I've seen since Muriel's Wedding)
- Passes the Bechdel-Ginger benchmark
- Really good depiction of exasperated love that comes with family
- A wide variety of female characters who each get good moments
- e.e. cummings poetry
Bad points:
- Small amounts of "fat character becomes happy and thin at the same time"
- The story is a bit saccharine
