I went downtown. To go shopping. On Boxing Day. What am I -- insane?

No deaths to speak of.

Edit: when I wrote this, I didn't know that there, in fact, was a shooting downtown. Ugh.

...but Kev and I similarily went out, in an attempt to use the ridiculous number of gift cards my folks gave us, and barely made it through the first establishment [henceforth to be known as the Frighteningly Large Box Store Which Is Better Than Walmart But Not Much].

Of course, since we live in NYC, I think a lot of people were making up for the shopping they couldn't do during the transit strike.

I've never found a deal, or anything remotely worth buying, on boxing day. The shelves are filled with things that couldn't be gotten rid of before Christmas.

I just checked out the Toronto Star website...and my jaw dropped. There actually was a death in downtown Toronto yesterday.
