Mr. Tom Wappel (Scarborough Southwest, Lib.): I'm against gay marriage, and I've been in Parliament for 17 years. And I warned you all that this day was going to come. We passed a bill, earlier, that should have prevented all this from happening, but nobody paid any attention. Damn you all!

Mr. Rob Moore (Fundy Royal, CPC): I'm against gay marriage, too. And I proposed a private members bill, C-268, that could have prevented all this gay marriage stuff from happening. But you damn Liberals wouldn't let parliament vote on the bill. I think we shouldn't be talking about Bill C-38; we should vote on Bill C-268. Can we?

Some hon. members: No.

Mr. Rob Moore (Fundy Royal, CPC): Damn you all!

Hon. Paul DeVillers (Simcoe North, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, the opposition is wasting our time talking about Bill C-268. It's ancient history. Let's talk about Bill C-38. Damn you all!

Mr. Pierre Paquette (Joliette, BQ): The Bloc is against Bill C-268. We shouldn't even be talking about it. Damn you all!

Mr. Bill Siksay (Burnaby—Douglas, NDP): Well, I don't like the Conservatives, and I support gay marriage, but, man, it sure is frustrating that private member's bills never get anywhere. Heck, I submitted my own private member's bill in support of same-sex marriage some time ago, because I wanted to get the ball rolling. But nooooo. Damn you all!

Mr. Jay Hill (Prince George—Peace River, CPC): You want to talk about discrimination? How do you think it feels being the only person whose bill is not only not passed, but not even votable? This is censorship. This is wrong. This is flawed. This is horrible. This is sad-making.

The Acting Speaker (Hon. Jean Augustine): Time's up!

Mr. Jay Hill (Prince George—Peace River, CPC): Damn you all!

Mr. Rob Moore (Fundy Royal, CPC): Mr. Speaker, I want to thank everyone for their comments on my poor bill, but Damn them all!

The Acting Speaker (Hon. Jean Augustine): Hey! It's 2:30 on a Friday afternoon. Parliament is adjourned!

I dig your look, and I love your eyes
But conversation is a drag

I went to see Jory Nash at the Free Times Cafe last night. He had a woman named Alise Marlane opening for him. Alise had songs with great lyrics and songs with great sound, but none of the songs I heard had both. I tried to buy a CD at the end of the night, but I think she skipped out early.

Jory is probably my favourite local musician. He has such an amazing voice. His fan base has grown beyond what the Free Times can accomodate, but I still love seeing him in that venue.

I finally picked up his fourth CD, Spaz Loves Weezie (there's a whole story around that title), and I'm really growing to like the title track. I also think he should record some of the covers that he does. He does such a good "Fly Me to the Moon". He covered Nina Simone's "Blackbird" on lo-fi northern blues. I'd really love to hear him do "Sinner Man"; I think his amazing voice would do interesting things to it. Pity it's not a guitar piece, though.

Another cover I'd love to hear him do is Jefferson Airplane's "Comin' Back to Me", because I bet he could really nail that lovely, haunting guitar, while giving it a unique Jory sound.
