So, our Head of State is coming on Tuesday. The Queen of Canada doesn't actually get to spend too much time here.

Tonight the CBC pondered the question: if the government topples on Thursday, should she quietly leave? 'Cause it's kinda unseemly when the Head of State is around while people are campaigning to get elected.

Canadian politics are a funny thing.

Well, I'm just hoping that if they do manage to pull the government down that the Conservatives only win 3 seats in the ensuing elections, just because this whole thing is a cynical ploy to try and get into power. Harper is an ass, and he really needs to shut up for a while. I fear what would happen if they were to end up succeeding in this. If anything, I think that it could be the NDP who really benefit, because they're not nutcases like the Conservatives, and they're not (as deeply) embroiled in the sponsorship scandal, so if people want to punish the Liberals for that, but don't want to support the way that Harper and the Conservatives have played politics with this, the NDP would seem the logical choice.
