lol oh my...BC, OT, can I ask some questions about transitioning? I am working on a presentation about gender tolerance for a conference I am going to in March and though I think I have a good start and I have been doing a lot of reading, I would like more information. If you are uncomfortable with questions about it, please don't hesitate to say no.
ok...I am kind of going off the cuff here and I am hoping that we can dialogue instead of doing the whole reporter type of thing. I am looking for emotional and personal responses rather than clinical answers if that makes sense. If you don't feel comfortable answering something, no worries. Also, would you like me to use your real name (BC) in my presentation or would you prefer a pseud (you could pick one out if you like!)?
Why did you decide to transition fully rather than live as a full time woman with men's plumbing?
What made you think of transitioning in the first place?
I understand that transitioning is a long process, what was this process like for you?
Did friends and family support your decision to transition and were they supportive during the process itself?
Did and do you encounter gender violence (can't quite find the right word here), ie physical violence? stares and the like when out in public? verbal abuse? how do you handle these attacks?
This is what I've got to start. If there are questions you want to ask me, please don't hesitate to ask! I know I have more, but it is late and I am so tired I am fried. Thank you so much for answering my more than likely inept questions.
