That does it. GWB has obviously perfected some sort of bizarro mind-control technique, and "private meetings" is just a euphemism for "sinister hypnosis session".
I know you don't want to send soldiers to protect the Iraqis, but I hope you send enough to protect your own civilians. Yeesh, you guys are going to be like Mr. E.R. Bradshaw (http://orangecow.org/pythonet/sketches/hownot.htm) over there.
Personally, I think Martin is taking the high road here.
Blame for Iraq aside, I read this as finding common ground with somebody you disagree with and working on what's really important. Namely, keeping Iraq from exploding into civil war. The biggest danger right now is not the security of the election, it's Sunnis screaming afterward that the US fixed things, followed by tipping the bowl. We need as many additional countries as possible to helps us monitor and certify the elections, given our complete lack of credibility over there right now.
Yes, it's our fault. Yes, we broke it. No, you have no moral obligation whatsoever to help us fix it. But . . .
feel free to tell me i'm wrong, because i don't really know, but it seems to me that the more other countries get involved, the sooner dubya's minions will be out of there...
Dunno, strikes me that it's better than the US trying to handle it themselves... Iraq could still dissolve into anarchy without help, and even though we didn't break it, I think it's good that we're helping to fix it. What does the US know about fair elections anyways? ^^;
