I first became aware of this proceedure in a transcript of their show 'Inside Politics'. They were covering a press conference in which Condaleeza Rice was asked if she was aware that the head of the Pakistani Secret Service (ISI) was in Washington (meeting with Porter Goss, who has been nominated by Bush to head the CIA) on the morning of the 9-11 attacks, even though he had just wired $100,000 to accused ringleader Mohammed Atta. When CNN ran their transcript, it said "Are you aware of the reports at the time that (inaudible) was in Washington on September 11?", even though in streaming audio of the conference available on the White House website, the words 'ISI Chief' are perfectly clear.
Oh, but I'm sorry, this all sounds very 'tin foil hat', doesn't it?
