Some time ago, some people posted things that they used to believe as kids. I tried to think of interesting things that I used to believe, but they all sound really dumb now.

One story I was thinking about was how I confused the words "booze" and "boogers" when I was really young. I remember visiting my grandmother once when I was, like, five and she was serving some dessert and she looked at me and say, "you might not want one of the desserts. It has booze in it."

Now that sounded very strange to me, but all the adults seemed unfazed by this, so I said that I'd have one.

So my grandmother brought out these ice cream desserts topped with Creme de Menthe. They were the brightest and most stomach-turning shade of green you could imagine.

In many ways, I was a very dumb kid.

I can still remember the first time I heard the expression 'going to the can'. It was from my father, and I was probably about 4 or 5. I thought he was being literal. I was thinking 'can of what?'

In fact, most of the weird things I believed when I was a kid come from taking things literally. Again, around age 5, we went into a restaurant in Brampton called 'Blondies Fish and Chips'. They had a plagiarized image of the comic strip Blondie on their sign. And I asked them at the cash register where Blondie was. They thought that was so precious, but I was truly disappointed!

Oh, and I also remember that up until about age 12 or so, I thought oral sex meant *talking* about sex....like phone sex or something. Thank goodness I got straightened out about that one.

That's hilarious.

Might also explain why you don't much like booze.
