Ouch. I see that you too are going through the torment of shopping for pretty things for the new place, only to realize that you've got champagne tastes on a beer budget.
They usually work out that way - the most incredible dining room set (tiger maple & mahogony - hand done, even the chairs) - only it was about $4-5 grand more than I could have afforded....
Decorating this apartment marked the first time I've ever gone rug shopping. Holy sticker shock, Batman! I stopped looking at price tags after seeing a $2400 one. We found a nice one at Sears of all places, for under $200, which still seemed steep, but was pretty much the best deal we were going to find.
