And I'm scared s**tless. It seems that the stinkin' 'Pubs have a lock in the outstate regions, where the people behave more like sheep. We've got a Republican governor and a Republican lower house. The only thing saving us has been a slim DFL majority in the Senate. We have folks that have prayer meetings for legislative planning. We have truly scary individuals like Michelle Bachmann (R-Stillwater) and Arlen Lindner (R-Corcoran). Rachel and I are praying (and working for) a massive bloodletting in November, but these poll numbers just make me ill.
Does Canada take political refugees? If this batch of Bible-thumpers gets back in, I fear for our safety.
Not from the United States, to the best of my knowledge. And also take a look at the 'Smart Border Declaration' (SBD), signed in December 2001 by the United States and Canada:
The SBD was designed to 'keep terrorists out' of the U.S., but it also serves to keep U.S. citizens *in*, with 'pre-clearance agreements,' 'advance passenger notifications,' shared databases, and an agreement from Canada to extradite Selective Service scofflaws. This last part is crucial, given the high likelihood that Team America will be have new countries to invade soon (Iran would seem to be next. In fact, it was likely the endgame all along, with troops now stationed on its western and eastern borders). The American forces are already stretched. Fresh bodies will be required, and that means a draft. Local boards are already being set up. http://www.thememoryhole.org/mil/draft-boards.htm
If you want to move to Canada, your best bet is to apply as a skilled worker - if you qualify: http://globeandmail.workopolis.com/servlet/Content/newcanadian/20000000/nc_permanent
Or find yourself a nice Canadian to marry, I suppose.
I wish I knew
