From the National Post:

Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island declared a state of emergency after the East Coast's worst winter storm in two decades dropped up to 70cm of snow. It was so bad, snowploughs became stuck, police refused to patrol the roads and some Tim Hortons outlets shut their doors.

Some?

What I find most interesting is that only SOME Tim Hortons (some form of store, I presume?) closed their doors while the snow plows were busy spinning their wheels. We Chicagoans like to brag about our ability to handle the cold and snow, but even we look at Canada and go "No way man! Too Cold!" while we barbecue at 40 degrees F in t-shirts and galoshes!

Yes but hey if you are hired by a Tims, you can get any job anywhere. If you can ever get out of the job that is, its like the Mafia, you sign up for life.

Seriously, there are a lot of smalltown places which surprisngly enough look at Tim Hortons and YES we are talking a freaking Coffee shop here, as a community place like Moms Diner or something. People have come to look to Tims (and they have advertised it as such) as a place which supports the snowplough drivers, and the like from the cold, ie the people who support everyone else...

From Hockey Player To Coffee Chain Restaraunteur To Almost Public Utility. Thats the evolution of the words 'Tim Horton' to canadians. Which reminds me I have to go by there and get some timbits... craving them as of late.

Very funny! I lived in a part of Vermont like that, except there were no Tim Horton's.
