Pou retou titid!

Here's a picture I took (I think) on December 29th, 2009, about two week before the earthquake. The building is in Site Soley, and the banner says "Operation Bring President Aristide Home".
When Baby Doc returned to Haiti, the press made a big deal about how he was greeted by "supporters." And, yes, it's true that there are small segments of the population that still have a perplexing admiration for him. But I've never seen banners or graffiti calling for the return of Duvalier.
And I think it's interesting that the media is very careful not to talk about just how many people in Haiti want Aristide back.

And I seem to recall that Aristide was quite popular--with Haitians, if not with the US State Department. And of course US/Haitian history in light of US foreign policy in Central America and the Caribbean does not exactly foster trust.
I admire Aristide's resolve, but I hope he stays put until Duvalier is either put away or kicked back out, because there are things I would not put past the CIA, and I'm sorry to have to say that.
