Impromptu G20 Protest This Evening
Jun. 28th, 2010 09:09 pmI found out about a last-minute protest against police action during the G20 weekend. It was especially a rally in support of the 900 people still in jail (largest mass arrests in Canada's history). So, of course I had to go.

I think I heard that there were something like 5000 people present.

It all started across the street from the big police station on College.

There were lots of messages out there.

Naomi Klein openly calls this class warfare; this sign-bearer seems to agree.

Torontanamo has got to go!

An interesting question.

This was a popular point.

Also: calls to nationalize the auto industry.

This guy's clearly not a radical, what with that button-down collar. And also his sign says so.

Visualize whirled peas.

Here's the tail end of the march, as it got toward Queen and University. Most of those cars following the protesters are filled with cops.

No justice; no peace.

I was especially partial to this message.

Is this what they mean by "leftist"?

This sign could almost be labelled, "Shorter Harper".
