Shaping Up

Suitcase gremlins: defeated. I am with suitcase.

There's this real "the more things change the more they stay the same" feeling. The guest house has new screen doors to keep out mosquitoes. The airport has a new section with connecting ramps. Gone are the days of walking across the tarmac. There are bunches of new street signs and strange decorative... walls. I can't say that these are bad things, but who do they benefit? I can't help but feel that they have the effect of making outsiders comfortable. It's a strange agenda.

On the other hand, all the wrong things are still wrong, here. Sister Mary Alban was telling me about a young man who is in jail on charges that nobody is able to explain. The Minister of Justice, on the other hand, is facing corruption charges.

The guest house is full to bursting, but I'm happy to catch up with the regulars.

I work in a downmarket neighborhood of San Francisco. Not too long ago, they put in decorative sidewalks for the street crossings; very nice inlaid brick. Every time I walk by the brickwork, it makes me angry.
