I watched a film called The Women. While it's not the greatest film I've ever seen, it made me laugh in a coupl'a places. What's interesting about it, though, is that there aren't any men in the film. There are male characters, whose actions cause some of the plot points. But the characters never appear on screen. About half-way through the film, I was, like, "this is cool. Can they pull this off without us seeing any men in the whole movie?" There are no male speaking parts, and with one minor exception, we never see any males in the film.

...and the issues they are speaking about don't revolve around a man? EPIC WIN!

A number of them do, but a number of them don't.

The original 1939 film upon which it is based is BY FAR better. It's one of the best films of the 1930s. It has Joan Crawford, among others, in it. The whole thing works much better in that time period than in today's time period, and the original lines were exceptionally witty and catty.

You should see it, if you ever get a chance.

Was that the 1939 original with Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Ros Russell, etc., or the 2008 remake with Meg Ryan, Bette Midler, etc.? The original is one of my favorite movies ever; translated into modern terms, it just comes off as bitchy and unpleasant.

Both are derived from an even better stage play by Clare Booth Luce...

*laugh* I should have read other comments before commenting. The Clare Booth Luce original is dazzling social satire. The remake is flatter than a pancake, IMO.
