Don Valley West
Aug. 2nd, 2008 02:31 pmOn Friday, Elections Canada noted that they'd received official notice that the seat representing Don Valley West had been vacated (by Liberal MP John Godfrey). There's an article in the paper suggesting that all parties are campaigning hard in that riding.
Here's a breakdown of votes from the last election in that riding:
It seems like an NDP win is a longshot. It'll probably go back to the Liberals, but if it doesn't, newpapers will talk about how this riding shows Just How Much Voter Feelings Have Changed!
Other interesting factoids:
- Elections Canada says that in 2006, the population of the riding was 115,539 people, but only 78,824 were eligible to vote.
- 53,803 valid votes were cast in 2006, and another 216 were considered spoiled.
- Voter turnout percentage, as recorded by Elections Canada: 68.5%
