interesting. any idea why those wooden structures are there, and why they're painted in those colours? (maybe you said and i forgot or missed it; i'll go back to reread the original post to see.)

I think that some of them had been housing animals; I think a seremoni had taken place there recently (it had been Fet Gede at the beginning of the month).

The colours -- blue and red -- are the colours of the Haitian flag (the first Haitian flag was the French flag with the white taken out).
