Is it sad that I was surprised to see 'family values' and 'equality' in the same party platform?

I've never heard of them either.

My riding (St. Paul's) has a Libertarian candidate, a Family Coalition candidate, a Freedom Party candidate, a Green candidate, and an independent in addition to the main three.

(It seems as though Michael Bryant has been re-elected here. Not a surprise.)

Well, I think it's because I'm aware of the "Equality for All" group in New York State (which opposes the "special rights" given to indigenous peoples), but it's not too shocking to me. To these people "equality" means "not trying to bring others up to the level of white males".

So, yeah, any group opposed to "special rights"; be it for First Nations, gays & lesbians, immigrants, etc.; would probably say that they support "equality". It's nice doublespeak.
