So my cow-orker was playing show-and-tell today. He just bought a Mac mini. And now, I'm like, wow, that's purty.

It's so small. It plugs into a standard two-outlet monitor. So it wouldn't take up very much space on my desk. Hmmm....

I currently use a Mac G4 -- but I too have ogled those Minis. Sweet little machines.

I'd buy one now except the graphics card is underpowered for gaming. That's my excuse. It's the only reason so far I've found to not buy one.

Consider picking up a used G4 mac mini. Unless you are going to use the DVI output to use it as a media player, the old ones are pretty darned good.

*hehe* We've been thinking of getting a Mac Mini to act as our PVR in the livingroom while also allowing me to install the distributed processing node software on it so I could offload some computation when using my music software.

Note that while it might earn you derision from cow-orders and Mac fiends alike, there's an article here (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/pcs/mini-pc-162914.php) linking some barebones and linux-preinstalled "Mini-styled" PCs, if that's more your thing.
