Oda to travel to Haiti
Oct. 7th, 2011 09:19 pmThe Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, is travelling to Haiti next week to meet with government officials and aid groups working to rebuild after last year's devastating earthquake. Minister Oda will meet with President Martelly and other government officials to reiterate Canada's support for the Haitian people. Minister Oda will also visit Canadian projects to observe the progress made to date and in preparation for the next stages of the long-term reconstruction process.
Oh joy.
The Harper government has stated that it doesn't think Canada has any role to play in anything like building houses for people made homeless -- it's all about security, police and prisons. So the "next stages" conversation should be fun.
