Reinstalling OS X fixed my scanner. Which means I can bore you with my cartooning homework.

My mid-term assignment was a reproduction. We were allowed to reproduce anything we wanted, but since I knew that my final assignment was going to use ink exclusively, I wanted to pick something that challenged my inking abilities. I ended up reproducing a page from Scott McCloud's Zot series.

Here's 9-Jack-9: )

At times, I hated the white-on-black lettering. In fact, putting the black border on the page was surprisingly fussy. It makes me wonder if Mignola (who uses black borders a lot) actually blackens the edges of his pages, or if that effect is added after the work is finished inking. McCloud says, in his collected Zot, that this page took him forever, and I feel his pain.

Recently, people were linking to an article about a study on people's perceptions of wealth distribution in the U.S. The article made the argument that although the wealthiest 20% controlled (I think) 84% of the nation's wealth, people's perceptions were nowhere near in line with that. Does anyone remember this article and have a link to share?
