Seen on the LJ Toronto community:

"The Conservatives are like Nickelback. I don't know anyone who likes them, but somehow they seem to do well."

bcholmes: (politics)

Good things: Olivia Chow held her seat in Trinity-Spadina, and easily beat Liberal Christine Innes. Peggy Nash has reclaimed her seat in Parkdale-High Park (although I think that Gerrard Kennedy might have been a good Liberal to have around in the event of any impromptu Liberal leadership campaigns. Hint hint).

[personal profile] the_siobhan's riding has joined the cool club, trading in their used Silva for Cash (I totally stole that line).

And even though I don't agree with the Greens, I'm happy to see more parties represented in the House.

I felt a bit weird when Peter Mansbridge was talking about Jack and Olivia moving to Stornoway. I was, like, "nooooo!" But do you think that they're allowed to install solar panels on Stornoway?

I think the most sobering thing is realizing that Toronto played a huge role in giving Harper his majority.
