bcholmes: I’m covered in bees! (bee sea)

I visited the university I graduated from yesterday. I went down to University of Waterloo to meet with some people involved in interesting health-care statistical research. The campus has changed a fair bit. Renison -- the church college and residence where I lived for several years -- has changed enormously. I knew that there had been an extension, but it barely looks the same. I think I was most tickled by the queer-friendly sticker in the "Ministry Centre" in the new building.

St. Jerome's College (where I was officially registered, despite never taking a single class in the building) is pretty much the same.

There's a new co-op building and a strange extension to the building that the Humanities Theatre is in.

I think I was most disappointed in the "Student Life Building" which I recall paying fees to help construct. It's a shopping mall, basically. Great!

They sure make students young these days.

My co-worker, who went down to UW with me, picked up a copy of the latest Imprint, the student newspaper. There's a 12-page full-colour insert (probably paid advertising) folded into the paper. It's an anti-abortion flyer. It's made up in a faux-magazine/newspaper style with "articles" on how birth control can cause abortion, the stages of fetal development, and even anti-abortion cartoons.

I don't recall seeing anything like that in the paper when I was at University.
